Fashion Film: Crazy About Tiffany’s

If you’re a fan of all the fashion-documentaries that have become popular in the last five years or so, here’s another one that should be on your radar.

Crazy About Tiffany’s (2016) gives lovers of the brand a behind-the-scenes look at this iconic & globally-recognized jewellery giant.

Personally, I know the first thing that comes to mind when I think of Tiffany & Co. is the little blue box with the white ribbon. And that colour. That famous colour, Tiffany Blue (Pantone #1837), is a closely guarded secret that Pantone had developed exclusively for Tiffany’s. And apparently it’s a very difficult colour to mix. Wondering what the significance of “1837” is? 1837 is when the company was founded. You’ll find out about this & more when watching the film.

Throughout the film, stylists, fashion historians, celebrities, as well as a variety of Tiffany VPs, all weigh in on what has helped to make the New York based-brand endure for as long as it has (179 years to be exact!), while looking back on some of their favourite Tiffany & Co. memories.

One of the celebrities featured is actress Jessica Biel, who is seen trying to choose pieces to accessorize an outfit for an upcoming red carpet event! Celebrity collaborations are one way that the brand continues to maintain its brand recognition.

And of course, who could forget Breakfast at Tiffany’s? The 1961 film, which I think really helped to make the brand a household name, is featured as well.

What this film shows is that Tiffany & Co. is so much more than the little blue box (with the white ribbon). I had no idea that the company creates coveted trophies for major sporting events like the Super Bowl, the US Open Championships and more! Who knew?

And the clock at Grand Central station in New York? That’s from Tiffany’s too.

Like I said, it’s a behind-the-scenes look, which fans of the brand will love!

New! Elizabeth Arden 2016 Beauty Products

I don’t know about you, but I am the kind of person who appreciates a little routine in my life. I’m also the kind of person, that when I find a product that I really love, I stick with it (or end up buying it in five different colours). And that can be said for clothes, food, and especially makeup!

Recently, I was introduced to the newest and the latest from Elizabeth Arden. And let’s just say that I’ve found a few new makeup staples that I will definitely be adding to my routine!

I didn’t know much about the brand beforehand, so I was definitely curious to learn more. Here’s a little history for you – Elizabeth Arden was actually a Canadian-born woman, born Florence Nightingale Graham, who moved to New York from Canada and begun her business in the early 1900s. She created products that were, and still are, meant to enhance a person’s beauty, not mask it. And that’s exactly how I felt when trying out these new products courtesy of Elizabeth Arden.

First up is the new Elizabeth Arden Grand Entrance Mascara

New Elizabeth Arden Grand Entrance Mascara ($32)

I actually stopped using my previous brand of mascara (before it was done) when I started using this one! It’s a mascara that stands the test of time. I can wear it through the workday and when I get home, it still looks as though it was freshly applied. It’s supposed to be a glossy, long-wear, water-resistant mascara, and for me it has definitely been all three! And on top of all that, it enhances my long lashes! Love it!

Next up is the new Flawless Start Instant Perfecting Primer.

Now, I have very sensitive skin. I do have to be careful about what I put onto my face, as I would rather avoid having a breakout or allergic reaction to something. I was extremely happy to find out that this primer product is non-comedogenic! Perfect for me! I’ve been trying it out ever since and it gets my mark of approval.

And while summer seems like something in the far distant future, the new Sunset Bronze Limited Edition Colour Summer 2016 Collection will definitely having you thinking about sipping margaritas pool side, heading to the beach and soaking up some sun!

This new collection includes a bronzing powder, eye shadow palette, lip gloss (three different shades), and a highlighter (each sold separately).

Sunset Bronze Prismatic Bronzing Powder ($48) & Sunset Bronze Prismatic Eye Shadow Palette ($50)

Top to Bottom: Sunset Bronze Prismatic Lip Gloss ($25) in Sunset Kiss, Midnight Kiss & Moonlight Kiss

If you’re interested in buying any of these products, find them in your local Shoppers Drug Mart, Hudson’s Bay or for my West Coast friends London Drugs! Just don’t forget! The Sunset Bronze collection is limited edition!

5 Books You Should Add to Your Bookshelf: Humans of New York, Love Poems & More!

I love books as much as I love bags (which means I love them a lot!).

Growing up, in our house there were always a ton of books around on any given topic! And trips to the bookstore on weekends were always a treat. Coming home without another book (or two) was rare!

Fast-forward to today, and I still have an intense love for books!

Whether it’s for inspiration, to learn something new or simply to have when I’m curled up under the covers, I always need to have books around. Sometimes I buy them simply because of the look of the cover (yes, totally judging).

A few weekends ago I re-organized one of my bookshelves, just to give it more of a styled (a.k.a organized) look. It was getting a little too chaotic as there have been more than a few additions made over the past couple months!

Anyways… with Valentine’s Day just around the corner, why not buy your sweetheart a book that they would love? I know this was one of my top gift ideas for this Valentine’s Day!

Here are five of my favourite books of the moment:

Winter Beauty Essentials

Those of you that wished for it got it. And for those of you like me that didn’t, well… it’s here. “Weather” or not you are ready!

I woke up yesterday morning to find that the temperature had dipped to a very cool -28 degrees. And the thing that I dislike more than being cold is not being prepared for the cold. I’m talking about cold-weather clothing, shoes, and especially beauty products.

Luckily I was prepared with my arsenal of winter beauty essentials that keep my skin and hair protected and prepared for the elements.

Here are my top five favourite products:

clinique, clinique moisture surge, eos, eos lip balm, aesop, aesop masque, parsley seed masque, tresemme naturals, tresemme, the body shop, shea body butter, shea butter

Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief

My skin always feels super moisturized with this cream. And you don’t need a lot when applying to your face, which means it will last much longer!
