Toronto Fashion Week Street Style – Day Four

Day four meant that the end of the week was near, but that didn’t stop TFW attendees from showing up in style!

I chose to simplify my look with my “E” vintage bomber jacket, classic white collared shirt and all black everything-else. Oh yeah, and there was my graffiti print bag (can’t forget about that).

By this day, I was tired yes, but still enjoying the shows & all the going-ons of the week!

On this day I headed to the Triarchy & Farley Chatto shows.

I do have to say though, that the weather wasn’t that bad on this particular day! We were really quite fortunate, especially considering the time of year!

Toronto Fashion Week Street Style – Day Three

The weather just didn’t want to cooperate on day three of TFW. It was cold. It was rainy one minute, and not the next. Make up your mind Mother Nature!

Let’s just say that it wasn’t very inspiring weather.

In any case, that didn’t stop people from attending the shows. I managed to watch the Helder Diego and Hilary MacMillan shows.

I also decided to rock sneakers with my look on this particular day and brought out my Nike Roshes. Oh yeah, and so did my friends. #sneakersquad (lol!)

Toronto Fashion Week Street Style – Day Two

Fashion week always seems longer than it is. Which is definitely not a bad thing. For me, it usually entails spending maybe five to six hours at the tents, attending shows (first & foremost), taking photos, socializing (of course), networking, working in the media lounge,  etc.

It doesn’t even feel like only two days have gone by and that we are now in the third day! Starbucks run please (I’m already exhausted!).  But now that I’m into taking street style photos, I just can’t stop!

In any case, I noticed a few things while standing outside the tents yesterday: coats are cool, mustard-yellow is “in” (because that jacket though!), and quite a few people were rocking black suede knee-high boots. Understandably too, it was cold!

As beautiful as the weather was yesterday though, temperatures dropped fast. Luckily I was layered up – my sweater definitely helped. But it has me asking myself, dress for the weather? Or, dress for fashion?

We shall see.

On to day three!

Toronto Fashion Week Street Style – Day One

It always feels like an exciting reunion of sorts when the Canadian fashion industry gathers twice a year at the well-known TFW tents.

What’s also exciting is to see what new and innovative designs these talented designers send down the runway.

Today’s schedule included Mikhael Kale, Narces, Christopher Paunil & Sid Neigum.

Narces, Toronto Fashion Week Narces, runway, backstage fashion week, behind the scenes

And while my focus is usually on the shows (because that’s why we’re all there right?), this season, I will be focusing primarily on my own photography. Photography has always been a passion of mine (I still have my very first camera!). So in addition to fashion illustrations here and there (obviously), I’ll be showcasing my street style snaps from outside the tents!

Faux- or not, I love the pop of colour that this leather jacket gives this outfit! And the bag!!

Aliecia Brissett (www.alieciabrissett.com) strutting her stuff. In those boots – she definitely should!

Carcia & Telly (hercastlegirls.com) look striking while posing for a pic!

I should have asked her where she found her jacket! Love it! I’ve been looking for a similar one!

Jessi Cruickshank is rocking this olive-coloured coat! When it’s cold out, let your coat take the lead!

The collar of this jacket is so beautiful! Love the accessories that she included!

An interesting bag will always catch my eye! Because you know how much I love bags!

Yes to the bow! And the bag (of course)!

And that’s it! See you at the tents tomorrow!

My Wax Experience at Smooth Wax Bar in Liberty Village

The thought of waxing always seemed to make me cringe (just a little bit mind you)! And yet I still go ahead with the whole thing. But it doesn’t have to be a terrible experience – and I learned that after my recent visit to Smooth Wax Bar last month (there’s also an incentive for you to try them out as well – keep reading!).

The wax bar which opened shop in Liberty Village (110 Atlantic Avenue), invited me to stop by and try out a waxing service of my choice to get the full client experience. I chose to get the Modest Brazilian.

Before my appointment started, I was able to get introduced to a few of the products that Smooth Wax Bar sells like Pfb VanishBillion Dollar Brows, Merben Body Brushes, i love my muff, as well as LOVEFRESH (one of my personal favourites!).

I met my waxologist soon after my product tour and was ready to begin my service!

Post-wax, I have to say, it was a great experience from start to finish! My waxologist was not only knowledgeable about the products she was using, but also kept me calm throughout the whole process. Before I knew it, the service was over!

It’s good to note and know that Smooth imports and uses three specially formulated hard and soft waxes made for sensitive skin.

Now, usually before a wax  I have to prepare myself (mentally & physically). And Smooth Wax Bar has some great tips to keep in mind pre & post-wax service (especially for bikini waxes):

Pre-wax:

  1. Relax – there is really nothing to be afraid of. The atmosphere along with the Waxologists at Smooth Wax Bar are enough to keep clients at ease.
  2. Take a warm shower – this should help to open pores.
  3. Take an ibuprofen or aspirin – if you feel like you have a low pain tolerance, this may help with the process.
  4. Try a numbing cream – Smooth Wax Bar sells numbing cream products that can be applied 30-45 minutes prior to your appointment.
  5. Don’t drink any alcoholic beverages before your appointment!

Post-wax:

  1. Stay Cool – avoid exposing the area to heat for at least 24 hours.
  2. Stay Clean – try to stay away from applying any heavy creams, gels or oils your freshly waxed area for at least 24 hours.
  3. image

  4. Take Care – exfoliate! This will help to keep the skin smooth and free from ingrown hairs!
  5. Don’t Shave In-between Appointments – While it may be tempting, patience is definitely a virtue. Wait until your next appointment (anywhere from 3-4 weeks after your previous appointment) to have your waxologist take care of you!

Now, if you’re in need of a wax service, Smooth Wax Bar has you covered!

For my readers located in Toronto,ON., Smooth Wax Bar is offering 25% off services at Smooth until April 2016 by using the promo code ‘camerasandclutches‘!

Enjoy!
