Real World Runway: Polka-Dot Dancing

I didn’t notice until I did a major overhaul of my wardrobe (i.e. giveaway & donate a portion of my wardrobe and organize the rest of it) – how obsessed I was with Joe Fresh clothing. I found a bag, some shirts, pants, shoes…I love Joe Fresh. (I love Joe Fresh so much … that I just remembered I did a post and featured a pair of pants that I had bought from the brand as well!)

Not only is the line affordable (which everyone knows by now), but the clothes are chic and cool.

It’s not hard for me to justify buying clothing from the brand, because for me the fit is right & so is the price.

So today I found myself visiting one of the Joe Fresh Studio locations and I happened to pick up this lovely dress for only …(drumroll please…..) $22. And that was with tax! Give or take a few cents of course.

I found a picture, but the dress I bought was in black with white polka dots.

And I found my old Betsey Johnson sunshine yellow belt …which looks similar to this picture.

For shoes, I have this pair of yellow patent stiletto heels that I will wear sans tights!

Cute right? I love it. It’s a little matchy-matchy, but I think I’ve found what I’m wearing to my brother’s graduation in June. Have to plan ahead! Light packing makes a happy Élana!!

Picture This! – Memories…in a photog sequence.

So I just found all these photos that I had thought were posted previously. They’re just a few of my favourite pictures that I had taken last year. The events range from TIFF, trips to Quebec, Vancouver… LG Fashion Week. Had a good time last year – and this year has proved to be just as exciting if not even more!

**PS. No zoom was used for the celeb photos 🙂 ** thought I’d just mention that !

Real World Runway – Tintin

So yesterday I succumbed to a day of window shopping on the Friday. I just couldn’t help myself. I had the day to myself (which is rare) and decided to check out some places that I had never really…..let’s just say I hardly headed out into these areas.

I first wound up at Fairview Mall, then I decided to check out the Yonge-Eglinton area and finally I ended up at the Joe Fresh Studio located on St.Clair W.

I didn’t buy much – just three things, but my day wound up to be a shopping adventure. I let anything and everything inspire me – I read the subway map and said I want to go…. HERE. And went. It was fun, interesting & exhausting.

While at Fairview I stopped in at Forever 21. I think their location is the 2nd best that I’ve ever been to, the first being in a shopping centre just outside of Seattle. Anyways I walked around for a bit checking everything out, they have some cute tribal-print skirts that I MUST get into my wardrobe – and the one I wanted was only $18…(isn’t it cute?)

Anyways… I’m getting off-track! I was playing with the idea of the skirt and decided to walk around some more, picked up a pair of opaque tights ($6.50) and a great woven belt, but put them down shortly afterwards.

Then I came across the shoes… At the time I didn’t think of Tintin………………(but you’ll see why I thought about him shortly)

But my outfit just SCREAMED his name! So here are the shoes from Forever 21 ($33.80)

Then after travelling to Yonge-Eglinton and for some reason receiving a free Saturday Star paper & reading it (the business section mind you as it had a lot of articles on Fashion Week) and I came across an article about Joe Fresh.

It was at this point that I thought to myself – hey why not? Let me find the closet Joe Fresh store. So after a little research, I came across the Joe Fresh Studio on St.Clair and decide to give it a go see.

That’s where I found pants for my Tintin outfit (again at the time though I didn’t think of Tintin). These pants were a real steal! They were originally $39 and I bought them for $6.94 (they were from the F/W 2010 collection) so I bought another pair (different style of course!).

They don’t look like it but they hit my ankles and the wedge heels compliment the grey of the pant so nicely :). And they are a snug fit so they hug my curves!

And finally the piece de resistance – my trench that I bought last year from Old Navy.

( This is actually a newer style of the one that I had purchased)

Anyways – if I ever wear this clothing-combo again I’ll definitely take a picture of it.

When I had the whole outfit on, I thought of my favourite childhood cartoon character. His books & tv-show were amazing. When I mentioned this to my boyfriend he says “Yeah, even your hair is the girl-version of Tintin.”

– Don’t know how to respond to that one!

I got it in the bag ;)

OK. Those of you that know me, know that I have an extreme (& sometimes overboard) obsession with bags. Purses, bags, backpacks, messenger bags, satchles, clutches… you name it – I love it.

Well, it’s happened again. Yet another bag has caught my eye!! This L.A.M.B Nardozzi in Natural ($98).

LAMB Gwen Stefani, L.A.M.B. Gwen Stefani, Gwen Stefani, celebrity

I first noticed it when I was walking by Stoneridge, and then again when I was purchasing somethings from the Little Burgundy website.

I want it! I have an obsession with totes. I think I have more tote bags than any other type of bag.

A girl can never have too many bags – or totes.

I’ve got this one in bag – I think!

Big Hair & Girls with Curls

Personally, I haven’t always been a fan big hair (even though I have it myself). And I guess you could say that I have a love-hate relationship with it. Nowadays though, I can’t get enough of my hair being in a ‘fro. It’s all cute and short….love it 🙂 But there are times when I really miss my long & curly hair (short & curly is cute like I said – but when it’s long, watch out!!!). And tonight’s episode of America’s Next Top Model made me miss it even more!

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised to see a lot of curls and big hair on my favourite episode of the series – the Makeover Episode! I think though that it has been a good 2 or 3 years since I’ve watched the series…it seriously started to bore me. But now I find myself eager to watch it again.

Girls with curls know the trials and tribulations of having this type of hair. Sometimes we love it, sometimes we don’t. It can depend on the mood we are currently feeling, the season or weather, or whatever might be influencing us at the moment. Right now I seem to have a little routine going on. I’ll wear my hair curly for a few days, no more than four, and then pull it back after that until the next time I wash it.

It’s going to be interesting to see how these girls take to their curls – only one of them is a true Curlista.. – and sadly the girl in the first photo (Dominique) was sent home this episode.
