Captured on Camera: Eurotrip Day 3 – Rome

My last full day in Rome was spent quite leisurely; which was completely fine by me! Before I left for my trip I was told that everything that I see during the day, I must see at night as well. The only place I managed to see at night was the Colosseum. Seeing it all lit up is so worth it! Earlier that day however, I was able to see a few more sights and places. I love Rome! I can’t wait to come back! It should be noted that the during my time in Rome, the heat was unreal (no wonder they don’t advise tourists to visit in August). I couldn’t handle the heat. I’ll admit it. And usually when this is the case, my hair turns into a giant frizzy mess. So why are my curls looking so nice in the Roman heat? It’s because my friends at Aveda Canada hooked me up with travel sized products from the be curly line! So thankful for that! And if you know me, you know how much I love Aveda products …

Captured On Camera: EuroTrip Day 2 – Rome

I got an early start to the day with my only goal being to find the famous Piazza Navona, an extremely popular tourist destination that was built in 1st century AD (it was also featured in the movie Angels & Demons)! Since I kind of, sort of, gave up on my map-reading abilities, I decided to look for landmarks to guide me along the way. Bernini’s Triton Fountain would serve as a great landmark to start my day. Early in the morning I came across this tiny little church hidden away on a side street. I crave experiences like this, finding beautiful little secrets off the beaten path. I had no idea what was behind the wooden doors (it didn’t look like a church), but it was nice little retreat to come across. I also discovered (well, not really discovered, but you get the point) Palazzo Barberini, a palace that was built in 1549. I still can’t comprehend that all of this was built hundreds of years ago, the pictures I took on this trip don’t do any justice to what my …

Captured on Camera: EuroTrip Day 1 – Rome

I had never been to Europe before I took this trip. Yet, I had been travelling the world since I was a mere babe and it took 25 years to eventually get to Europe. I made a promise to myself last year when I turned 25 on October 25th; I told myself that this would be a year that I would never forget. Even though I had never been, I knew that as soon as I arrived in Europe that I would fall in love. I would fall in love with the people, the culture, and the history. I mean sure, Canada has people, culture, and history too, but nothing like what I experienced in Europe. And no; I am not being biased because I am of European heritage…I promise! I took an overnight flight from Toronto to arrive in Rome mid-Friday morning. A weekend in Rome? Yes please!! Side note: Pearson Airport has undergone a lot of changes since I was there last year.  I was a very happy girl relaxing in that tech-savvy world …

Film Fashion – Sabrina (1995)

Only 8 weeks until my big trip to Europe and I am SO EXCITED! I started counting down from the day I booked my flight. I’m heading to Europe for the first time EVER this summer. I will be visiting three countries Italy, Switzerland and France! I have a lot to prepare for this trip and have been finding inspiration everywhere, especially with the film industry. One film that comes to mind is Sabrina, the 1995 version starring Harrison Ford and Julia Ormond (the original film from 1954 featuring Audrey Hepburn and Humphrey Bogart is also a favourite). I love this film for so many reasons. When the film starts, Sabrina is in this awkward coming-of-age phase and not really sure of herself or what she wants to do in life. But a trip to Paris changes everything. Because that’s what trips to Paris do for people – right? While in Paris she falls in love with photography, the city and most importantly herself. She returns home a completely changed woman. If you haven’t already, try to find this film to watch it! …
