Captured On Camera: LOCAL Liberty Village

If you haven’t already been, and I suggest you do, check out Liberty Village hotspot LOCAL (and make sure to bring an appetite too!). When LOCAL opened up in Liberty Village, I was ecstatic. Why? Not only was my little brother was going to be a chef there, but the restaurant is owned by none other than the JOEY Restaurant Group (JOEY Restaurants are a favourite of mine – love those spring-roll mash potatoes!). The atmosphere at the Local is great, especially if you are looking for a casual but fun place to have dinner. Speaking of fun, they have a shuffle board in the restaurant which guests are encouraged to use! And whenever we had “summer-y” days here in Toronto the patio was packed! Most of the dishes may be familiar to you, but what won’t be familiar are the unexpected ingredients or additions to the dishes. Avocado with nachos? Steak on garlic toast? Churros to dip in hot melted chocolate with marshmallows? Yummm! Now the pictures that you are about to see were taken during two visits to …

Captured On Camera: Tomato Cucumber Salad Recipe

Have you tried the new(ish) app from Instagram? Hyperlapse takes videos recorded in real time and drastically (and dramatically) speeds them up. It’s supposed to give a cinematic quality to your videos. I tried the app out a few times already, but now that I should be focusing on what I eat and how I exercise (soccer season is right around the corner), I figured it would be a good way to record the recipes I use and create, and to showcase how I make them. I figured I would start off with one of my absolute favourite salad recipes – a tomato and cucumber salad with onion and feta. I love making this salad! Super easy and super simple (only five ingredients needed). Watch to see how I made this salad recipe: Tomato Cucumber Salad with Feta 2 tomatoes 1 cucumber 1/2 of a small onion 1 tablespoon of olive oil 3/4 cup of Feta Slice and dice the cucumbers, tomatoes and onions. Mix all three into a dish and add the tablespoon of …

Captured On Camera – Élana Camille Gets Fit.

Today I did a couple of things that are not part of the norm for me. I went to the gym & I ate a vegan meal. I decided that NOW is as good a time as any to start living a healthy lifestyle. Because…if I’m to be completely honest….that doesn’t happen right now in my life. At all. Where should we start? With the fact that I don’t eat breakfast (I never make the time, even though I could), I love chocolate and sweets (the word moderation means nothing to me), and I would rather walk a mall shopping than walk a 5k (but I still somehow get a little workout from shopping – don’t we all?). But I’m going to try as of today. That’s a good start right? Proof that I was in the gym!  The second little piece of new-ness came about after I left the gym. I decided that I would continue being good to my body, and came across a vegan market/restaurant in Liberty Village called Live Market. It was …
