Today I did a couple of things that are not part of the norm for me. I went to the gym & I ate a vegan meal.
I decided that NOW is as good a time as any to start living a healthy lifestyle. Because…if I’m to be completely honest….that doesn’t happen right now in my life. At all.
Where should we start? With the fact that I don’t eat breakfast (I never make the time, even though I could), I love chocolate and sweets (the word moderation means nothing to me), and I would rather walk a mall shopping than walk a 5k (but I still somehow get a little workout from shopping – don’t we all?).
But I’m going to try as of today. That’s a good start right?
Proof that I was in the gym!
The second little piece of new-ness came about after I left the gym. I decided that I would continue being good to my body, and came across a vegan market/restaurant in Liberty Village called Live Market. It was my first time inside the store and it smelled really good. I should have asked what they were making when I walked in….
If you’ve never tried a vegan meal before, don’t be intimidated. A lot of the ingredients are things you probably already eat (hopefully).
I wanted something a little hearty as I had just finished at the gym and so I opted for the “Trainers Bowl” which was a delicious combination of: “Tofu, Tempeh, Collards, Kale, Chickpeas, Sweet Potatoes, Hemp Cabbage Slaw, Burdock, Mixed Seeds, Rice and Tahini Sauce.”
Packaged & ready to go!
The delicious ‘Trainers Bowl’
It was SO GOOD. I didn’t know what to expect to be honest, but I devoured that meal. And I poured that Tahini Sauce over everything, but it was the sweet potatoes that really captured my fancy. Delish!
Well, to end today’s successful start in healthy living, I got my brother to pick up some ingredients for me at the grocery store so that I can start making smoothies in the morning!
Last thing that I’ll leave you with is my first memory of a workout routine, courtesy of my mother by way of Jane Fonda.
I always remembered how she had the tapes and would workout to Jane Fonda’s routines.
Check it out (you don’t have to watch the whole thing obviously…):
